NSW HOUSING CODE UPDATE
The NSW Housing Code is a NSW Government initiative for people who want to build a new one or two storey home, renovate or improve their current home.
The Codes SEPP simplifies the NSW planning system by allowing low risk and low impact developments to
be carried out without the need for a development application. The advantages of this are significant time and cost saving benefits for home owners and small business owners across the state.
In order to expand these benefits, the Codes SEPP is being amended to:
• include additional types of low risk and low impact developments permissible as complying development
• reduce the areas that are excluded from the Codes SEPP
• simplify some of the existing development standards
These amendments are quite extensive and come into effect on 25 February 2011
For more information please visit the Housing Code website http://housingcode.planning.nsw.gov.au
